There’s always time for sports!
With the winter semester just starting, why not warm up by signing up for a winter sport team? If you missed tryouts last week, don’t worry – you still have a chance to go this week.
The tryout schedule is available here.
Playing an intramural sport is a great experience for a university student. It allows you to make new friends, lower your stress, and just have fun. The easiest (and most popular) excuse is “I’m too busy” and while it may seem difficult to juggle a full course load and a social life, it’s not as hard as it looks! The key to success is balance and time management.
Here are some tips to help you manage your time:
- Determine what’s most important to you. What’s your first priority? What can be dropped? Write an ordered list of what you need to get done. Prioritize the items on your list.
- Eat a good breakfast. A good breakfast gives your body carbohydrates and sugars to keep you energized throughout the day.
- Get enough sleep. While this may sound like unfamiliar territory to many of you, it is possible if you manage your time efficiently. Plan your days wisely and maximize your free time.
- Remember that there’s a time for everything. Sure, studying for a long time is good, but take breaks before you start feeling too overwhelmed. Take power naps when your brain starts frying. Go for a run, play some pickup soccer, shoot some hoops. Take time to de-stress!
- Balance, balance, balance! Balance is all a part of life. Set certain expectations for yourself for both your academics and extracurricular activities and track your progress. By finding time to balance sports and life as a student, you’ll find yourself a happier and healthier person.
Like we always say… Work hard, play harder!
